What you are buying
A licence to run one installation of Asano for the period stated on it, normally twelve months. The software is self-hosted: you run it on your own infrastructure, against your own database. We host nothing on your behalf.
Each licence is bound to a single installation. Running a second installation — production and disaster recovery, say, or one per customer — needs a licence each, which is what the Enterprise and partner arrangements cover.
Your data is yours
We claim no ownership of anything you record in Asano and we have no access to it. There is no lock-in mechanism: the data sits in a PostgreSQL database you control and you can export or take a dump of it whenever you like, licensed or not.
What happens when a licence lapses
Nothing is deleted, ever, and the application does not stop dead. After a licence expires there is a period in which everything continues to work; after that the installation becomes read-only, so you can still read, search and export everything you have recorded but cannot add to it. Reads, PDF exports and the licence screen are never blocked in any state.
A new installation gets seven days of full use before it needs a licence at all.
Support
Starter includes access to the documentation. Professional adds email support. Enterprise adds priority support and a response-time commitment set out in your agreement. Partners run their own first line and escalate to us.
Updates
A current licence entitles you to every release published during its term. Because you host it, applying an update is your decision and your timing — nothing is pushed to you, and an installation left on an older version keeps working.
What we do not promise
Asano records what you tell it about your infrastructure. It is not a monitoring tool and it does not discover, verify or reach out to your devices, so its accuracy is the accuracy of what has been entered. Decisions with real consequences — cutting power, reusing an address, decommissioning a rack — should be checked against the equipment itself.
The software is provided without warranty beyond what UK law requires and cannot be excluded. Our liability is limited to the licence fees paid in the twelve months before a claim, except where the law does not permit that limit.
Ending it
Either of us may decline to renew at the end of a term. If we withdraw the product you keep the right to run the version you hold for as long as it is useful to you. If you stop paying, the lapse behaviour above applies — we do not remotely disable anything and we could not if we wanted to.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. Where a signed agreement exists between us, it takes precedence over this page.
